BRISTOL, Tenn. — William Boyde McCloud was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with domestic assault, child abuse and neglect, and violation of an order of protection.
According to a release from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a Bristol-area residence in reference to an assault that had occurred late Saturday evening. The deputies spoke to a 37-year-old female who identified herself as McCloud’s former girlfriend and the mother of their 8-year-old child.
The woman told deputies that McCloud had been at her residence on Saturday night for dinner when he started to assault her. She added that she believed him possibly to be under the influence of methamphetamine.
The woman told deputies that as McCloud was assaulting her, their child attempted to make him stop and was struck in the face by McCloud.
Deputies located McCloud at a nearby residence, took him into custody and transported him to the Sullivan County Jail. McCloud was charged and his bond was set at $50,000. He remained jailed as of Sunday afternoon.
The names and identifying information of the victims are not being released at this time.
In February, McCloud was arrested with Angela Boswell, the grandmother of Evelyn Mae Boswell, in North Carolina after allegedly stealing a vehicle that the child’s mother, Megan Boswell, was in the process of purchasing.
Last Wednesday, a Sullivan County jury indicted Megan Boswell on 11 charges of false reporting to police during the investigation into her then-missing daughter, whose remains were found on March 11 in Sullivan County.
