Prep basketball roundup: Morgan boys win by 16 at 5A Skyline

SALT LAKE CITY — Morgan boys basketball notched an impressive win at 5A Skyline, outscoring the Eagles 38-29 in the first half Thursday en route to its 10th win of the season, 74-58.

The Trojans had just four players score on Thursday. Trey Miles scored 27 points, Kade Russell had 20, Tyson Herd added 16 and Lane Carter scored 11.

UTAH MILITARY 69, DUGWAY 45

Utah Military Academy scored 39 points in the first half and had three players finish with double-figure scoring in a win against Dugway.

Jacob Ogden led UMA with 19 points, Dante Huerta scored 15 and James Summers added 14.

PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL

STANSBURY 69, BEN LOMOND 26

Stansbury held Ben Lomond to single-digit scores each quarter and put up a 22-point first quarter as the Stallions cruised to a win in Region 11 play.

It was the first region game of the season for the Scots, who were led by Ashley Garcia in scoring with six points.

COPPER HILLS 60, BOX ELDER 35

Box Elder couldn’t turn around a 34-12 halftime deficit in one of its final games before Region 5 play begins next Friday.

Emily Isaacson led the Bees in scoring with 15 points.

LOGAN 52, MORGAN 41

Morgan led 12-11 after the first quarter, but fell on the road to the Grizzlies.

Morgan Cragun, Lisa Blazzard and Jaci Jensen led the Trojans with seven points each.

JUAN DIEGO 43, OGDEN 35

Juan Diego’s 28-point second half was enough to keep Ogden from its first win of the year in the Region 11.

Aleah Knowles led the Tigers in scoring with 14 points, Makin Clark scored seven and Grace Gooder added six points.
